An eight-week beginning drawing course focused on enhancing creativity and artistic confidence through portrait drawing.
Using a combination of lessons and techniques from the original and infamous "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" course from Betty Edwards, the local artist De Andre Drake puts his own spin on portraits with unique and innovative implementations learned from personal experience to create an immersive lesson in portrait-drawing.
This class is an eight-week series teaching how to correctly draw the proportions, values, and tones of a chosen subject, elaborating on the perception of edges, spaces, relationships within the said space, lights and shadows, and overall perception of the whole subject itself.
De Andre Drake, an Oakland local, has over ten years of experience as artist and as an art instructor. Drake's work has been shown worldwide, doing promotional work for a long list of top clients such as Fiat, Smirnoff, the North American Brewery Association, Jean Paul Gaultier, Corona, and many, many others. His work has been featured in ESPN Magazine, Black Beat Magazine, Vibe Magazine, Right This Minute, BET's Rap City, MTV's My Block, and countless music videos.
